Why not just have applications register a system notification event, similar to how the system sounds are registered? I think it makes sense to use the same mechanism style for consistency across API's.
I would think this makes sense too. Allowing any apps to register/listen events would be nice. Currently (sound) events are related to mail, startup, shutdown, windows events, key events. Bye, Jérôme
