After R1, indeed. With a future GCC 4 version of Haiku, we have the one 
time opportunity to cleanly break compatibility and extend the API for 
future extensions such as multi-user. And I don't really want to miss 
that for something that gains as little as a premature switch to GCC 4 
would do.
