Also there is a well known rule that bodies
rotating round each other rotate about their common centre of gravity. If
the sun orbits the earth, there must be colossal forces holding the earth
still. Where do they come from? The common centre of gravity is in the sun.

Alan, you are allowing the small picture to blind you to the big one.

First you accept the earth revolves around its centre of gravity , which has
zero mass. OK you do . Even if the earth was alone in space, LETS TAKE
ITFROM THERE, it would do that. Now working out from centre of the earth say
a kilometer first we atomically speaking have a few proton suns and other
stuff masses rotating around this nothing quite happily because it is kept
in place by the 'UNIVERSAL MASS OF THE WORLD.

Now gunga Din , quite a few brains , of the 50's/60's and I would hazard
99's who were/are scientists in their own right, have speculated on the
similarity between the microcosm and the macrocosm. If you say they, lets
just name Asimov, are not scientists, then Alan your credibility is zilch,
and nothing you say is worth consideration simply because you are a prisoner
of conceit, not mecessarily your own.

The common centre of gravity is not the sun, any more than the common centre
of gravity of any material is invested in one single proton. The common
centre of gravity of all of creation has to be nothing, just as in my
example above of a lone earth. If God created a universe, as you claim to
believe, and if you believe He created it for man and nobody else as He
claims in His Book, then it is logical that the centre of the entire
universe be the centre of the world. If it is, then it is also then logical
for all of this creation to rotate around this centre, with all the motions
of balance and imbalance , in the macrocosm of the universe, as can be
demonstrated in the microcosm of one single world called earth if it had no
heavenly bodies.

Believing that, if you can, then you will become free, to use your excellent
scientific knowledge and mathmatical skills to look deeper enough to find
new arrangements of computations that do fit not only with the established
mathmatical laws of motion and gravity, but how these laws (not theories
mind) can also fit an alternative model.

Now all of that being said, I am not denying the heliocental position. I am
saying that Truth requires honesty of research and more importantly enquiry.
Prejudice should not interfere. In the end Salvation does not depend on one
being a geocentrist or a heliocentrist. It does depend on honesty, and
motives. In God's eyes and mind, those whose motive is to defend the literal
word of His revelation, are most certainly more likely to be His friends,
than those who work for and assist the theories of those who hate him.

Philip.
