  Well, wasn't really a call above duty just I got investigating and 
discovered the drive was alive and started testing with the assumption 
it was bad trying to prove it otherwise... Well, it's alive! (From 
everything I can determine)

   The only thing I can say is from the RAID BIOS menu, I did start a 
'low level format' on the drive, then tried the other things. Maybe that 
might have made a difference.

  Anyhow, I'm bagging up the drive, will have it Tuesday.
