Janet,

Your first option simply replaces the checkpoint file. This will not solve
the problem and, unless another checkpoint occurs, will result, after the
next reboot, in an empty CP. This is not a good idea.
Your second option, deletes some of the files used by CSA to keep track of
the compounds in the station. Again, this will not correct the problem, but
would allow odd errors like two compounds with the same name to occur in the
system.
Your third piece of advice - calling TAC - is the best solution.

Ken,
The -1000 is an IPC communication error - you can see the code in
/usr/include/fox/ipc.h. I can't access a system right now to look at it, but
basically it is a generic IPC error.

My advice - call TAC.

Hi Ken,

You can try the following:

Compare the size of the two files DB<CP letterbug>.init to DB<CP
letterbug>.UC in the /usr/fox/sp/files directory. If they are different
sizes, copy the DB<CP letterbug>..init to DB<CP letterbug>..UC.

Another option, which will likely force you to reboot and reload the
controls is listed below:

On the AW, change directory to /opt/fox/csa and delete the following files:
CMPD_INDEX.datCMPD_INDEX.idxSTN_INDEX.idxSTN_INDEX.dat
Additionally, remove the <SCP Letterbug ID> directory.

However, I would call the help desk before performing any of these
procedures.

Rebooting the host is a problem because, our process is a batch process and
we are running I/A Batch on this AW also.

We have four batch trains, and finding a time when all of them are idle
usually
only occurs on major holidays.

So... I did a little research and apparently the CP is locked. Is there
anyway
to unlock it short of rebooting?

thanks,

Ken

I can understand why re-booting a CP would be a problem, but why would
re-booting a host AW be a problem?

I'm pretty sure rebooting the host would cure my problem, but
that isn't an option. Rebooting while the plant is in production is
only for extreme circumstances.

Try rebooting the CP's host AW or the AW that runs CSA. That ususally
works
for me.

When I try using the ICC to open a CP (FT CP60),
I get the following error:

unable to communicate with CP (-1000)

or something like that.

Then on the next screen I get:

iuc or iuc_open

I've checked the AW and all the WP's and cannot find
the ICC running anywhere. All stations are 51B's

Can someone stear me in the right direction.
