The Foxboro I/A software versions 6.2 or less doesn't support hard disk
greater than 8.4GB on AW51D. If you are running Foxboro I/A version 6.2
or less you need to use a hard disk size of 8.4 GB or less. As per my
experience I/A software version 6.4/6.5 supports hard disks of greater
sizes on AW51D.

New to this forum and new to IA systems. Have done some searching but
have not found an answer to my problem.
Have a WP51D Sun box that constantly cycles through boot sequence when
attempting to boot. Gives some error associated with reading from the
hard disk. I attempted to do an "ia_install" from the "Day 0" cd but
when it gets to step where it is supposed to format the hard drive it
says "unable to format hard disk" and dumps out to "#" prompt. I have a
few questions:
1. The hard drive installed is a Seagate 8.4GB IDE drive. I have
a known good Fujitsu 10GB IDE drive. I have attempted to install the
Fuji drive but the "auto_get_size" script in the ia_install fails and
dumps me out to the # prompt. Can I install this drive?
2. How do I format a drive of any size in a WP51D box? A better
question is how do I boot to Unix so that I can format a drive on the
WP51D box? There is no floppy and I can't find a way to get to bios to
boot from CDRom.
3. Do I have to get a replacement from Foxboro (Seagate 8.4GB
drive) with some magic performed on it by Foxboro or, can I purchase a
refurb'd drive and install it?
