You are on the right track;
If you want to enter your own custom range the syntax is:
COMPOUND:BLOCK.SPT|R=2.0,98.0
This will clamp the .SPT between 2.0 and 98.0
Obviously the custom range should be within
the block's RI1 (LSCI1,HSCI1)

I am using a button made with a rectangle in Display Builder. Then I
configured the select action ramp with the following line:
C:B.SPT
Protection Class: 0
+/- percent control range: 5
When I pick the ramp the value moves 0,5 from the last value. If the DM
assumed 5 percent of the 0-100 span, I think that the variable would move 5
not 0,5 from the last value. Am I right?

The ramp rate is different for the two ramp buttons.
What bumps to you get with each of the two buttons?
