We have enabled rsh on our terminal server (a non Foxboro applic) which allows us to use rcp and run scripts with rsh, exactly like we were always doing from our AW51E's. I don't have any proof (yet) that by installing this service we have 'broken' something. As long as we have solaris boxes (version 6.x & 7.x) our master stations for graphics will remain on these boxes. Graphic building is always done on the box with the lowest FoxView/FoxDraw version. Our distribute script has started of simple but has now grown and has some nice features. It will check if the source AW is actually the 'master' for the files we want to distribute. We can pass a parameter which defines destination for the files; example: distr P1 *.fdf will distribute all fdf files from the current directory to all boxes located on Process area P1 distr TTS0001 *.fdf will distribute all fdf files to terminal server TTS0001 etc. If a full distribute is done to all stations for a particular process area it will first create a back-up of the (previous) fdf file(s) so we always have a fall-back in case we would accidentally distribute, say a corrupted fdf file. This also allows us to look back at older versions of our graphics. If the destination station is a windows box it the script will take care to first convert to .g, copy the .g files to the windows box and convert them back to .fdf on the windows box. Works quite nicely. Kind regards, Patrick Martens Total Raff. Ned.
