No offense here but this makes I/A a vendor driven DCS, not a customer driven one. If we stay at the mercy of the vender, then if the vendor decided they could get a really good markup and we could be convinced that this is the way to go maybe we should turn to Sony Playstations or even an Xbox instead. Now that I think of it, a little Laura Croft while configuring might not be such a bad thing. -----Original Message----- From: Jriccardi@xxxxxxx [mailto:Jriccardi@xxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, November 08, 2002 8:50 AM To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [foxboro] NT vs Unix In a message dated 11/8/2002 8:57:57 AM Eastern Standard Time, AWeldon@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx writes: > We are currently looking at upgrading all of our AW's and WP's. I certainly have no insight, but from monitoring previous e-mail threads on freelists.org, the general impression is that Foxboro is moving towards Bill & Co. If this is truly the case, and no disrespect is intended, it's not going to matter if everyone else votes Sun & Co. Before the upgrade decision, may I suggest that you submit (in the name of the President of your Company so you get their attention) a formal letter to Foxboro requesting details on their future commitment to Unix for future upgrades and long-term support. If you include a price tag for the upgrade in your letter, you will have an even better chance of getting a response. Consider Foxboro's response before making any decisions ... _______________________________________________________________________ This mailing list is neither sponsored nor endorsed by Invensys Process Systems (formerly The Foxboro Company).
