Wally,
I do not know if this applies, but after a FoxView upgrade (6.1 to 99.2.1 I
believe), I had problems with a couple of displays ("dongle initialization
error).
I copied the whole display to the clipboard, opened a new display et
voila... the problem disappeared.

Subject: Re: [foxboro] NT vs Unix
I've run into a problem on using the proposed new XP stations because
their graphics have to be on FoxView. We primarily use DM. I've found
that converting DM graphics to FoxView isn't "seamless integration".
I'm planning to replace two dual head B boxes in January. After learning
about the XP solution, I thought we'd give it a try on these workstations.
I like the idea of getting away from the nodebus and using off-the-shelf
ethernet technology.
My understanding is that DM will not run on XP workstations, so I need to
convert to FoxView. No problem (I thought), I've already started using
FoxView 99.2.1, so we were headed in the right direction. I used the
FoxDraw convert utility and ran into problems when some converted graphics
caused FoxView to exit and create a core dump in root. TAC said to try
the g_edit utilities to clean up the dispIays, there is an issue with
objects located out of the graphic boundary area. I used the g_edit
utilities for cleaning and updating the displays and still have core
dumps. I have submitted two CARS and spent quite a few hours trying to
get this convert to work properly on ALL graphics.
So now I have to decide whether we can spend the time to create new
graphics, or should I just stay with UNIX because of the DM graphic
capability.
Maybe FoxView 8.0 doesn't have as much trouble with conversion, but I
won't know that till I get a copy to try. The graphics I'm having
problems with are the important displays used by the operators, so I just
can't blow them off. Displays were created by a bonafide engineering firm
about 6 years or so ago.
