Thanks for the info. That makes sense. I've just never used substitutions
before so it didn't occur to me, but I do recall seeing <> on block detail
display files.
I just used a polyline instead of text as a workaround.

Doesn't DM use < > as the markers for text substitution. We do a lot of
overlays with <MTR_NO> then a dmcmd subslist some_file.txt The file contains
the substitution list.
subs:/usr/ef/ovl/MTR_POP
<MTR_NO>=2231023
<NAME1>=AERATOR NO.12
<NAME2>=
<INFO_OVL>=/usr/ef/ovl/data/2231023.INF
<AMPS>=EMC3_01:DUMMY_AIN.PNT
I'm not sure how you would draw one.
