Raj,

Thanks for the input... I have not done any research yet on using the
LDIFDE, so I will look into this.

Replicating the exact structure for OUs, Users, etc. is my main goal. Do
you have a rough 'outline' of the steps you use to perform this task? If
not, no worries. I have planned for my entire day today to try and resolve
this one issue.

Thanks again for everyone's responses.

Chris,

If you are talking about creating an exact replica of your OUs, User
objects, DLs etc in a test environment, the best option is to use LDIFDE and
do an export and then import into your test lab. This is what I do when I
have to simulate a lab for our production environment. I use LDIFDE
specifically because once imported into the lab environment, I can make any
changes to the object using the same LDIFDE file. This is not possible with
CSVDE, with CSVDE you can only create new objects, not modify existing
objects.

Subject: [exchangelist] Lab creation question...

http://www.MSExchange.org/

All,

I have been searching for the past 3 hours and can not find much on
building a test lab from a production 2003 AD environment. I have located
the following link:

http://briandesmond.com/blog/archive/2003/11/25/251.aspx
<http://briandesmond.com/blog/archive/2003/11/25/251.aspx>

In NT4 I could just build a BDC and promote it to PDC off the wire and go
from there... I can not believe that Microsoft doesn't have a post
regarding best practices for doing this with an AD environment.

I do not expect someone to tell me how to do this - just looking for
references on the web that can support the steps listed in the site I have
provided.

Regards,

Chris
