While it is "just an update", that doesn't mean you shouldn't follow safe
computing practices.

Before you start the schema update, make a full backup of your schema
master.

Apply the schema update. I'm an anal SOB, so I generally remove the schema
master from the network while I apply the schema update, just to make
certain that it doesn't bomb.

If by some horrible chance that the update DOES bomb, you have a full backup
of the schema master to roll back into - without having to do an
authoritative restore of your entire forest.

Once the schema update is completed successfully, reconnect the schema
master to the network. Note that the rather significant changes will cause a
full replication cycle - in large organizations this is something that
should generally be scheduled for off-hours.

After the schema update is complete, I recommend another full backup of your
schema master.

As I said - I'm rather anal.

Are there any gotcha's (side effects) in doing the update? Anything to look
out for?

Where can I download the 32-bit version of Exchange 2007 that will allow the
schema upgrade on a 32 bit dc...is it the same one as the management 32 bit
tools?

Thanks much
