Thanks Ray, I need to be able to take some better photos for my business- so
that is all, well hopefully very useful information. My Panasonic took
fairly acceptable photos, but now that I no longer have that, I need to come
up with something better for the next one- but don't have a ton to spend
right now- business has been a little on the slow side around here. Thanks
again

Brian

I dunno what ya call "really expensive" but this is my main camera:

It's a Canon 7D with an 18-200mm lens (I bought them separately), a
2-battery pack and a 430EX strobe (I almost always use the Sto-Fen diffuser
on it). I also use a 100-400 mm "L" series lens for road racing (like
there's gonna be any of that this year...sure...the local track has lost all
its major races except for NASCAR West and Superbike) and salt flats. The
thing holding the lens up is a tripod mount. The camera's quite a bit
bigger than my little pocket Panasonic (LH20, 14 megapixels for $200) but
it's a workin camera.

I've got several thousand dollars tied up in it. I also have a Canon 20D
and a 40D. I shot this with the 20 and its built-in strobe. You can see
the corner of the 40D in the photo. It needs to go into the shop for some
work. It got hammered pretty severely last year.

Chris' suggestion of the T1i (or any of the Rebel series for that matter) is
a good one. The 7D is a pro camera without the presets for action,
landscape, portrait, etc. Yer on yer own when it comes to that. But it's
an 18mp sensor and I've blown half-frame crops up to 20"x30" with great
results. I wouldn't recommend this camera for a beginner, tho...a 50D or
60D, yes, but not the 7, 5 or 1D models. (I can't afford the 5 or
1...they're the absolute top of the line.)

Ray, I am incredibly jealous of your photos, Are you using a really
expensive camera to take these shots? I adopted a couple black puppies this
past couple weeks and. well I am getting very frustrated with all 3 cameras
I have and use and their inability to photograph a black dog.

Just curious, and thanks!!!

It might not seem like a lotta progress to some folks but it was a huge win
for me today. I finally got the damned PB booster hose connected and the
carb bolted down. I ended up using a couple of the blue anodized fittings
one was an NPT elbow that had the screwy threads. I finally chased them
clean enough to make it work, then used a -6 AN hose fitting for the vacuum
line.

Then I got the tv cable bracket onto the anodized spring/throttle cable
bracket, put both the throttle cable and tv cable in and I think that when I
get the studs for the carb lever, the tv cable adjustment will be pretty
darned close. I may have to grind on the throttle cable end a bit to get it
to clear the return spring mechanism, tho.

Then I did a bit of tidying up....screwed the heater fan motor back in,
cleaned up a tiny bit of the cable mess and tightened and aligned the
pressure regulator. I'm happy with how it sits now...the gauge is upside
down when viewed from the passenger side, but big deal. The whole thing is
very solid and is both clear of the plane of the fan belt as well as the
valve cover and far enough away from the stud on the alternator that I'm ok
with it.

So I'm wiped out, but I'm pleased with the progress. I may eat my nightly
salad (I've lost about 10 pounds, so the diet's working) and watch the truck
race from Darlington that I recorded last night. There's also something
about the Daytona 200 bike race that was red flagged for tire safety
concerns...I recorded that, too, so I'll see what happened there.
