It's fine. But it's in a holding pattern. Here's the deal. I bought a new radiator and a new grill shell. Then when I was in Seattle in February, my friend, Doc Freud, asked if he'd mind if I let him finish the critter and drive it around Seattle for a while. I figgered that it was almost a blessing, cuz I'm workin 12-16 hours a day on the photography and other projects and I haven't been able to do anything to ol' Rufus. So I said "sure."

We talked about the grill and emblem and he's of the mindset that he wants to use his logo (the "Freud" on the nekkid biker business card) in the same "font" that's used in the F*rd logo image I attached. (Btw, that's not Rollie Free in the famous shot, that's Freud re-creating the photo op.)

So we're still tryin to decide how we're gonna get Rufus to Seattle. But when it gets there, they have all sorts of plans for it...like a quick-change rear end, a new steering box, dropped axle, hydraulic brakes and so on. When they (Freud and his buddies) have finished it, and he's been able to drive it around for a bit, then it'll come back to me. I don't know how long "a bit" is, but I trust him to do the right thing. And when it comes back to me, I'll put the Fink emblem on it.

I wish I could just put it on a trailer (I sold mine) and take it up to him and his friends and get it done and then get the Monte Carlo into the garage with the idea of racing it in September. My fingers are still crossed on that. I dunno how or when it'll happen.

Speaking of Ford emblems.... I am concerned about the one I did for you. One of the photos I printed years ago is in my basement, and not in the light, but it has faded considerably. I haven't noticed this about other pictures I have printed, but this one is on the same paper. Is your emblem fading? Every time I look at the picture, I worry about yours. What's happening?

I just finished this for my friend Tom's Fox body project for his
girls. It's copper with a star burst finish on it. I bought a
silver pendant, and soldered a couple pieces of copper tubing on
the back to rivet it to the backing plate. Then the whole thing
got a 24K gold electroplate (heavy deposition plating... the same
plating I used on this SS emblem
<http://myelcamino.net/ec/ss_st-gold.jpg> that has see 12 winters
and plenty of car washes and bugs).

It's my contribution, for all the times Tom has bailed me out,
sometimes for hours on end. We shared a beer today, while I
watched him sand the orange peel off the primer. He should be
shooting paint on it soon. The grille should be black, and this
should look real nice. I think it's going to be silver on the
    bottom. 2 tone paint scheme.

Tom teaches Auto Shop at Saint Charles East High School, and his
daughters are both there now. One is turning 16 soon, and this
will be her wheels. The Fleur de Lis is the school logo.
