Hi everyone. My name is Kristen DeRue and I am in the Computers in the
Classroom class on Thursday nights. I grew up in Rochester. I have one older
brother who got married a year ago and lives in Ithaca. He is a chef at a
local
restaurant and my sister-in-law is attending Cornell to become a vetenarian.
I attended John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. I received a BA in
Early Childhood Education. On my free time I was a gymnastics instructor for
Elite Gymnastics. I have coached gymnastics for 6 years. I was also trained
as
an ABA therapist at the Cleveland Clinic and tutored an Autistic child for
two years.
Once I graduated I moved back to Rochester and was a substitute teacher in
the Gates Chili Central School District. I was a long-term substitute for
first
and third grade last year. I was hired full time this summer and I am
currently teaching kindergarten at Neil Armstrong Elementary School. I am
looking
forward to learning more about children and enjoying my first year of teaching.
