Hi Mel,

I guess I've opened a small can of worms with this topic,
but from what you describe, your solution may be simple.

I take it these sheets of labels are the ones which as 8.5
inches wide and 11 inches from top to bottom, an come in
continuous format like regular braille paper.

Although you probably only need to adjust the right hand
tractor, moving it left so that the label paper fits, you
can indeed also adjust the left tractor if absolutely
necessary.

As regards DBT, you will probably find that by selecting a
form size of "Narrow Width, 11 inch long, Braille paper",
the defaults of 32 characters and 25 lines will be OK.
However, you can change these in DBT if you require.

George.

Hi George,
Yes, the embosser is Juliet Pro 60 and it is from Enabling
Technologies.
The embosser is at my work place and it set to work with
wide paper 11 1/2
by 11 size paper which is 40 cells across margin in Duxbury.
The tractor
feed labels from APH come in size 8 and half by 11. I never
changed the
paper size on the Juliet Pro 60 before and I am not even
sure if it can be
done or not. From the previous discussion, I assume that
paper size can be
adjusted to fit the exact width and length of the given
paper size. I would
like to know if I could adjust one or both tractor to fit
the 8.5 and by 11
size paper. I think somebody mentioned before you can only
slide the right
side of the tractor. Is that correct? I understand that
once the paper
size is adjusted on the Juliet, I then need to change the
margin to 34 on
Duxbury under the document settings. Will that work?
Thanks for your help.
Mel

Hi Mel,

Just to be 100% certain, is your embosser actually an
Enabling Technologies "Juliet Pro 60"?

And are the dimension you give the width followed by the
depth?

And is the width the overall width including the sprocket
feed holes down each side, or the width after removal?

George.

Hi George,
somewhat related to the same topic regarding paper size
with Juliet 6
Pro... How could I change paper size from 11.5 by 11 to 8.5
11? The reason
why I am asking this question is that I have a tractor feed
labels from APH
that come in 8.5 by 8 size that I'd like to use. Is the
tractor adjustable?
If so, which size do I need to adjust? Thanks
Mel

Hi Anthony,

In your Duxbury folder is a file called "emb.elt". Make a
copy of it before you go further.

Make sure you are not running DBT, and open this file in
Notepad.

You need to search for the section "Enabling Juliet Pro 60"
- which does have the quotes.

Go down the file from here about 17 lines to the line which
says - Encoding = "display.cpt", "Spanish"

Immediately below this, add a line, and insert the following
line, noting the two spaces at the beginning.

  Form "4_in" = 60 x 40 ; SinglePage ; 24 x 10 ; 24 x 10

To explain,

"4_in" is what will appear in the Form section of your
embosser setup.

"60 x 40" means 6 inches wide by 4 inches deep.

The two instances of "24 x 10" are the desired and maximum
characters per line followed by lines per page. (Keep those
the same for simplicity's sake) The 24 x 10 can be varied,
but should be fairly close.

The full section is shown below.

George.

Hi George,

I am using a Juliet Pro, and am looking at 6" by 4" sheets.
(6 inches wide, 4 inches high.)  The overall page size is 7
inches by 4 inches, but one of those inches width-wise is
for the tractor feed holes.

Take care,
Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Custom form sizes can be set up in a file called emb.elt.
It's not exactly rocket science, but does need to be done
with care.

If you could tell me exactly what make and model of braille
embosser you have, and the size of paper you are considering
(please make it clear which measurement is width, and which
is depth), I'll do my best to explain how to set this up.

George.

Subject: [duxuser] Using Duxbury with odd-sized pages

Hi there,

I may have a need to print many copies of a document on an
odd-sized page (likely 8" x 5"), on perforated pages such as
those available here
(http://www.braillepaper.com/continuous.php).

The question is, can Duxbury deal with this?  I am using DBT
10.6, and the Embosser Setup dialog does not appear to have
any degree of flexibility in its paper size options
(offering only standard "narrow" and "wide" paper formats),
and certainly no way to adjust the length.

Will this matter, i.e. if one sets the lines-per-page
setting appropriately, will the "form size" chosen make any
difference?

Take care,
Anthony
