For home use, I purchased OCR software from AABBY company. This software included semi-ocr ability to take PDF files and turn them into Word files. I have used this to produce about a dozen pdf files into braille that came out in decent quality. Since there are many tools and approaches to making PDF files, there is no way to say how a particular one might turn out. I would be wary of any file that displayed in columns.

Nicky,
The first thing I do is ask the person or agency if they have a Word or WordPerfect version of the file. Often, people write their files in some usable format and then save it as a pdf. I would say that 98 percent of the time I get a replacement file that I can use.

Hi

I was just wondering what others have found is the most effective way of
dealing with PDF documents which need to be brailed.

Any responses will be welcome either on or off list.
Thanks in advance.
