Somehow I just messed up my inbox and the second reply to my query
disappeared.
To whomever it was (and thank you for the suggestion) the soldier
concerned was John Smith (Regimental No. 43). He enlisted in 1812
underage and resigned here in Perth as the Colour Sergeant in 1840.
It is his marriage and the birth of his children which I am trying to find,
