Have you looked in the British BDMs Overseas - Army Returns?
That is where I found my Great Grandmother, Catherine Mary Fitzgerald's birth,
and also that of her half-sister, Bridget Duggan Fitzgerald, who was fostered
by her father 10 years before Catherine was born. (All included in the baptism
records.) Five years after Bridget's fostering, Catherine's parents, Thomas
Fitzgerald and Johanna Meehan married.
It threw a great deal of light on some puzzling family situations, for example
who was this Bridget who was giving permission for 16 year old Catherine Mary
Fitzgerald to marry my Great Grandfather, Frederick Tanner? Her big sister of
course!
