GO to advanced tab and switch to acio mode. Also before you do that, I'd
suggest you go back to control panel and set the default playback device to
your internal card. This way jaws and windows sounds can come out through
there and leave your external card open for sonar and pro audio work. You
are probably getting drivers unavailable because the card drivers are
already opened/in use by windows. As a mattter of fact, try that and see if
the drivers become available in sonar using wdm.

Hi

OK, here's how the system is currently set up and what I'm hearing.

I installed the drivers for the new card (ua-25ex.

Set all the switches on the rear pannel to their correct settings as per the
manual.

Connected the card to the pc via USB cable.

Connected my Tyros 2 to the card via 2 standard line in jacks.

Connected the card to my monitors via 2 standard line out jacks.

Restarted my computer.

All good up to this point.

Once pc restarted, I went to Control Panel/sounds and audio devices.

Went to the audio tab and set the playback, record and midi devices to the
new ua-25ex and clicked OK.

Here's what I get so far...

From the new sound card I can hear the tyros 2 in stereo.

I also hear jaws through the sound card but windows sounds and any mp3's I
play are coming through in mono.

When I start up Sonar with the normal template, I hear the tyros 2 through
midi tracks.

When I add any soft synth, it is still coming from the old sound card.

I know this because I have headfones plugged into the computer's sound card.

I go to options/audio in sonar.

I go to the drivers section and it tells me that the drivers for the new
sound card are unavailable.

Where do I go from here? I'm pulling what's left of my hair out.

I'm very computer literate, but recording is a new ball game for me on the
pc.

How come I'm hearing windows sounds and jaws, along with any media I playon
the new sound card but it's coming through in mono?

How come I can't select the new sound cards drivers in Sonar?

I'm totally perplexed.

Thanks in advance.

Darren
