I understand. My mixer is a simple Yamaha MG-10 and the extra one is a Phonic
MM-502. I also love the Yamaha so much that I bought one from a friend to have
as a spare for gigs, or if mine ever dies.

Yeah, I understand now what you mean, I thought at first there maybe another
mode in Sonar that I'd missed.
I would set my system up the same as yours except my mixer is so old it has
hums and buzzing sounds that would be adding themselves to my recordings.
Must try and save up for a new mixer.
It's not external noise it's the age of the circuits.

I'm using a small mixer as the pre-amp for microphones and run that output
to my Delta sound card inputs and thus to Sonar. At the same time I pull a pair
of monitor outputs from that mixer and input to my main mixer on one of the
stereo channels. My headphones are plugged into the main mixer monitor jack.
So I can hear the real microphone mix on one channel pair, or Sonar on
another channel pair, or both.
It's all external to Sonar, in other words.

I think I may of missed a step, monitor directly?
are you saying there's a way that you can listen to your live vocal
through the headphones without using the Echo on?
Forgive me if my question seems a little Dum.
If there is a way of hearing playback and live vocal without the slight
delay, that would be fantastic.

Yes, I suppose a faster processor would help. However in reality I
either monitor directly or using the echo, but never both at the same time.

What Dave Carlson said regard a slight delay also happens to me on my
system, even at 0 latency. Not sure whether the new higher spec computers have
resolve this.

When he turns it on, or me, will it have a delay?

Hi Manny,
if you wish to hear yourself even when not recording, first make
sure you are on the track you want and then cursor right to Echo, once on Echo,
press enter to turn echo on, now you should hear your voice through the
monitor-headphones.
If you then wish to record say your voice on another track, before
going to the next track, first make sure that the Arm is off and the Echo is
off on the track you've just recorded.

hello.
I was wondering if someone could help me trouble shoot my
situation. the problem I am having is when I go to playback I only get sound
out of one monitor. maybe there is a setting to change that. I brand new to
the software and still havan't got the hang of this. I barely learned to
record and delete a audio track. shamelessley. oh and another one is how do I
make sound when I am not recording. for ecample, to rehearse or speake thru
the record booth. I would appreciate it if someone can help. thank you
