Messageright, all those checkboxes do is insert another midi/audio track with
the input and output fields preset for that instance of the synth-you can do
that yourself in track properties without adding unnecesary additional tracks.

Does that mean that you uncheck all the available tracks that can be created
in the synth rack properties dialog?
  Never thought of that.
  Cool,

When inserting an instance of the tts1 or any synth, you get that dialog
box that asks, among other things, whether you want midi & audio tracks
inserted along with the synth. I don't bother adding these tracks. Instead,
using the normal template with 16 midi tracks already available, I set the tts1
as the output device. Then I go to track 17 which is the first of eight audio
tracks in the normal template and set the input as TTS1, and the output as
MASTER. Then using tracks properties dialog for the individual MIDI tracks, I
set up the bank & patches I want. Notice that each of the 16 midi tracks using
that tts1 use track 17 as the audio output track. Each midi track has its own
channel# as well. Once an instance of tts1 is installed, you can use that one
instance in all 16 midi tracks with only 1 audio output track.

      Phew! Hope that helps.

So do I create multiple bracks of the TTS1, one track for each
instrument, and then assign each instrument its own unique channel, reserving
Channel 10 for drums? Or is there some way to insert only one instance of the
TTS1 but then, instead of inserting a new DXI for each additional
track/instrument, creating those new instruments/tracks from the first DXI I
inserted? (I've been inserting a new DXI for each new instrument/track.)

Well, in the case of tts1, that is a multitimbral synth. You can just
assign other midi tracks to the port that is created when you insert the tts1
and set it to another channel.

          Hi,

Is there some other way to set up tracks? I thought you had to have
a separate inserted DXI track for each instrument anyway? (Now I KNOW I'm
missing something!)

            Stephanie:
If you want to have different instruments on each track, you have
to have each track set to a separate midi channel unless you are inserting a
separate instance of tts for each track, which would use up a lot of system
resources.

I have been setting all my TTS1 tracks to Channel 1. Should I
assign different channels for each individual track? If so, why is this? It's
been working with everything using channel 1, but I could be missing something
..
