Sonar already runs on X64 which is Vista.
Ehh, a more accurate statement would be that Sonar works on 64 bit platforms.
There isn't an
official Vista Vista Sonar release yet. So, a 64 bit platform that Sonar can
be ran on currently
would be the 64 bit version of Windows XP. However, noone is using any 64 bit
OS yet, do to the
fact that there is no screen reading package that can run on any 64 bit OS,
available.
if I'm not mistaken Vista will work with Jaws version 8, reasonably well.
That's running Jaws on the 32 bit version of Windows Vista, not the 64 bit one.
It isn't likely
that JFW will be supporting a 64 bit OS, until Jaws 9. in the fall.
That's the official line from Eric Damery, at Freedom Scientific.
This is part of an E-mail I received from Eric on this.
"Phil,
While we recognize the need to get a 64 Bit version of JAWS and MAGic
done, the demand for it is still relatively low compared to other
requests. I don't anticipate a 64 bit version of JAWS prior to JAWS 9
release in the Fall as a result.

mentioned is by Emagic, which was absorbed by Apple. When Apple bought
Emagic, inventors of Logic, they disguarded the hardware division. That
meant that all those boxes were instantly orphaned. JAWS is what will
take forever to exist in 64 bit, not Sonar.

If the hardware is still viable, I expect the
manufacturers to develop Vista drivers for
them. We probably won't be using Vista for a
while, though. Sonar 6 probably won't be compatible until next fall.
