A mode you use on your braille display to recalabrate the battery by using exercise mode to drain the battery and then plugging in the ac adapter and fully charging the battery. That mode is also used for cleaning the display.

Try this: Put your display in exercise mode and then rub a damp
but not soaking wet cloth across it for about 30 seconds. Then
rub a completely dry cloth across it for about 30 seconds. Then
turn exercise mode off and your display should be good to go.

Sean,
I do not know what to do, but take a deep breath! I am sure
someone on this list can help!

Hi Shawn, Have you tried exercising your BN's braille display
while holding the unit upside down? I believe it may help
dislodge anything that may be interfering with the proper
function of the display's pins.
i've never needed to perform this task, so you'll have to ask
others for how to proceed if necessary.
However, I know this is something others have suggested in
similar instances.

Shalom,

Subject: [BNU] Urgent: please help x's on my screen

Today I just woke up and found an x on the rightmost end of my
screen. I got really worried and thought I accidentally put
crumbs or something in the cell, but then I rememkered that
other
people have had this problem too. Is this normal? What am I
supposed to do? I can't read with this! I just got my from the
factory six months ago and don't want to send it back so soon!
How do I get rid of it?
