[bookshare-discuss] Re: policy on new books?

The book in which I'm interested won't be on the New York Times best seller
list. The NYT acted like Max Blumenthal's previous book, which is critical
of Israel and is called Goliath, didn't exist. They never mentioned it at
all. It is on Bookshare, however. They never mentioned Glenn Greenwald's
book, No Place To Hide either, by the way, and that is also on Bookshare.
They're careful about not upsetting the government. The Times covers
Israel/Palestine from the Israeli point of view only because their editor
there is not objective in her coverage and also, I suppose, because of the
Israel lobby. The book called, The Israel Lobby, is also on Bookshare. So
Blumenthal's new book hasn't been mentioned in the NYT Book Review section
at all. But I've read articles about it and I just read an exerpt from it on
line. Interestingly, Audible doesn't have it either.

I am interested in this process as well. I would ask another question.
If a title hits the New York Times best seller list but the publisher is
not a partner, does the book still make the collection?
What are the chances for those titles that are on the list, but say #12?
How are publishing partners approached? For example I love Wayne Dyer, but
none of his books with Hay House Publishing are here, because hay House is
not a partner. I find this is true, even if in the Oprah book club.
Enlighten us all the way around can you?

Hi Miriam,

I am similarly interested in an explanation of how it is some books
from publishing partners make it and others don't. Like you, I['m
interested in the 51-days war. I'm also interested in Harvey Cox'
latest as well as a recent release by John Dominic Crossin called How
to Read the Bible and Still be a Christian, or something quite close
to that. BookShare has a bunch of Crossin's earlier work as well as
earlier work from Cox that is PQ. So yes. How are books chosen? Do
publishers only offer certain titles? Or does somebody or somebodies
on the receiving end pick which items they think will be most in demand?
