Hi. I am using Office 2000 also. The animal books did open just fine in Word. It was when I went to submit them that I got complaints that they were invalid files. Opening in Word, adding and deleting a character and saving eliminated the problem and cut the file size in half. With the Venus book, it crashed Word every time, so I think there is a bug in the Braillenote. Actually, I think the bug might be in Kurzweil since I had problems opening other rtf files it generates. You submitted _Blind Allies_ by Kendrick. I could not open that file in Word either and I think that was a K1000 thing. What is really odd about all this is that Windows Wordpad opens the files just fine. I don't like to use Wordpad though because it scrambles the columns. In other words, I get random words all over the screen which don't make sense, and I think it is somehow displaying two columns of text at once. Word does not have that problem. I am using Windows 98 SE and Office 2000.
