I don't believe that there's a CPU bottleneck at all. The processing of
DAISY books by Book Wizard simply takes time, as does the modifying of
audio files to remove pauses, etc. The fact that something takes time
doesn't mean that there's a bottleneck, it just means that there are a
lot of actions that have to occur.

I agree that that is one set of problems.  An equally annoying set of 
problems for a user of the transfer software is that the software is 
extremely cpu intensive when transferring daisy books for example such
that 
it is awkward to perform other tasks on the pc while files are being 
transferred to the bookport.  Some of this problem could be alleviated
if 
the processing happened on the pc instead of sending the files directly
to a 
usb device wile the files are being converted, re-encoded, etc.  To
date, 
this is the only serious drawback to the bookpport I have found.
