Quite right.
In any case, inclusion of additional hardware would definitely raise the
price. While I don't object to the price as it is, others have told me it
was the reason they didn't have a bookport.
Now the speech chip has taken a fair beating on this list, and I acknowledge
that speech synthesis is a very individual preference. But I think as
important a matter as that doesn't make as much difference as the bottom
line price people have to pay.
