I'm with Al on this one. If there's a trade-off, I'd prefer having no
adapter. However, having said that, the Otis didn't seem to suffer much in
terms of size, weight, or portability from having the ability to run off a
cigarette lighter DC converter.

I guess having an adapter plug would depend on how much room such a
transformer would take up.  I'd rather keep the unit small and use batteries
given their long life.
