Hello Sugar and all, I am wondering if anyone has tried this recipe as I
see after the first rise the mixture is beaten down and not let rise again
before baking? Love to know if anyone has tried this or a similar
casserole bread recipe and does the bread rise nicely during baking?
Thanks for sharing the recipe Sugar.
Cheers. Valerie
Casserole Bread
1 cup milk
1 cup warm water
3 tablespoons sugar
2 packages yeast
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons butter
4 cups unsifted flour
Scald milk. Stir in sugar, salt and butter; cool to lukewarm. Measure warm
water into large warm bowl. Sprinkle in yeast; stir until dissolved. Stir in
lukewarm milk mixture. Add garlic powder and flour; stir to blend. Then beat
until well blended, about 2 minutes. Cover; let rise in warm place, free
from draft for about 40 minutes, or until doubled in bulk. Stir down. Beat
vigorously about 30 seconds. Turn into greased 1 1/2 quart casserole, or
greased 9 inch tube pan. Bake immediately at 375 degrees for about 1 hour.
Serve warm with melted butter.
-God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change The courage
to change the things I can And the wisdom to know the difference Living one
day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardships as the
pathway to peace Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is Not as I
would have it, Trusting that He will make all things right If I surrender to
His will, That I may be reasonably happy in this life.
-Blessings, Sugar
