I'm looking to build a vintage stereo, but the trick is finding speakers that won't bottum out when metal is put through them. I've been hearing ither cerwin vega, advent among others. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diego Demaya" <diegodemaya@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Bud, I highly recommend finding a pair of Polk Audio LSI-9 bookshelf speakers.I have the LSI-15 towers. The LSI series is Polk Audio refined listening speakers aimed at classical and jazz music listening. They are superbly engineered with high end components and the same tweeter used by Krell inits ultra-high end speakers costing 10k for the pair. You can find the LSI-9set for under $500 if you look hard enough. Their retail was $900 for the pair. My LSI-15 pair cost me $1,800 brand new. And, until I can afford the cost of ribbon speakers, I am not looking back. Enjoy the music, Diego -----Original Message-----From: blindav-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:blindav-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] OnBehalf Of Bud Schwab Sent: Friday, February 06, 2015 12:02 PM To: blindav@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [blindav] bookshelf speakers and stuff Hi Guys,Thanks for all the interesting replies to my query about bookshelf speakers.Actually I guess powered speakers would not be necessary since my Onkyo TX8011 claims to have 50 watts per chanel and 20 hz to 20 khz. I guess us new guys are supposed to introduce ourselves. I'm 92 but my hearing is still pretty good so that's why I wanted to get some fairly nice bookshelf speakers since I have to get rid of my big KLH ones since I'm moving into a small converted garage apartment. I was in thepiano businessfor years where I sold and rented and rebuilt pianos but have been retired for some twenty years so have a lot of time to listen to music.Sounds like a great list here and I am going to enjoy it. .
