Bill,

Go to your help in JAWS, Press enter on training, go down through the table of
contents to JAWS Features daisy books (which is heading level 2). Go down to
voice profiles, this is the daisy book that tells you how to make all the
settings for different voices to perform different things depending on what you
want them to do and how you want them to sound. It says that the amount you can
have is endless.

Hope this helps.

Kurt

Hi. JAWS does have the capability of having different voice profiles for
specific applications. Off the top of my head I don't remember how to do this
and I don't have JAWS at home to figure it out but it's possible to do it.

Go to Jaws Insert-J

Go to voice Adjustment under the options, Voices submenu, Voice Adjustment

alt-O V V

This dialog allows you to change Profile, Synth language, Which context to
change, voice Person, Voice Rate, Puncuation, Volume, Spell rate change
percent, Upper Case Pitch percent.

I don’t know if each app can have a different voice profile assigned.

Hope this help

Hi,

I’m not understanding why you need to use jaws cursor in this dialog. As you
tab through you see the various controls governing these settings. You have a
list box where you can change voice profile. If you wish to leave default
unchanged so as to return to it should you wish you can save as first with a
new voice profile name and then make your default profile and then modify
things like pitch voice and the like to your heart’s content. there’s a list
box governing whether the change you make will be global I.E. impacting all
voices or just your jaws cursor voice and the like.

As to whether or not you can sue different synthesizers in specific apps I’m
unclear so will leave that to others on which to comment.

Subject: [blind-philly-comp] question about jaws set up

Hello,

When I am looking to change the pitch or “person” in jaws…

I go to jaws window, hit enter, and alt, voices and enter.

When I read with jaws curser I see, the speech type, rate, name (Reed) and so
on, but see no place to choose that.

I want to slightly change pitch as it is something I feel makes my perception
faster.

Where do I get to that?

I’ve done it before, and it was tough to find.

Also, if I wanted jfw to use vocalizer Karen, or some other voice in a program
like terra term, how and where do I chose that?

Thanks
