I've just been alerted that theCenter City Apple store, located at 1607 Walnut
Street, is hosting some workshops introducing the accessibility features of the
iPhone and the iPad. They are going to discuss VoiceOver, Siri and using voice
dictation. It sounds like more of an introduction for new or potential users,
rather than an advanced workshop for more experienced users. The workshop will
be held this Tuesday, November 24 at 10:00 AM. If I read the calendar on their
Web site correctly, they will also be hosting one this coming Saturday at 5:15
PM but I would call them just to verify this date. The Tuesday demo is correct,
however. At first, I was not going to attend. However, after thinking about it
I thought it might be beneficial for me to attend and I'm considering doing so,
as I've been given permission by my employer to go to it, if I want to do so.
This would be a great opportunity for people who have been hearing about these
devices but who have never had a chance to try them. While this workshop is
specifically for the iPhone and iPad, nearly all of what you will hear applies
to the iPod Touch as well, except for the phone capabilities.
