Hmm, Alison. Thanks for your explanation. This seems a little counter productive to me. It would make more since for the validator to have the notes from the previous validator as part of the download history. that way, someone could release the book and include their notes, giving someone else with more time, experience, or interest in the book to validate it. Having to go through the upload process and requiring Claire to take the time to make notes is more time consuming, and may not target the same issues the original validator noticed.
I'm wondering if making Claire the only one to make these notes is another policy in place due to the copyright constraints?

Hi all, E wrote: "I thought there had been an announcement that Clairecould send a book back to step 1 with validator changes left in."This is true, but only works in a certain situation. That is if thevalidator has uploaded the book with an acceptance. Claire, when she looksat the book before approving it, may decide that it needs more work. Then she will re-submit it back to step one with a little note about why it is being sent back. In that case, the original validator's changes will have been saved for the new validator to expand upon. Hope this has helped clarify. I thought there had been an announcement that Claire could send a book back to step 1 with validator changes left in. Claire or staff please comment. We need better tools. E.
