Merrill, I put all kinds of search terms into google
and found a lot of books about stranded children and
islands but nothing that sounds like that. It sounds
interesting, though. There is an island off the coast
of Maine like that, apparently, and I found a story
about children finding treasure on Squaw Island (I
can't remember now if that's the Maine island or not)
and then finding the island had disappeared when they
tried to go back, but I didn't find children standed
on a disappearing island.
