No, you do not have to adjust your awareness when reading. The reason that you can leave the page numbers at the bottom of the page is because the converter automatically moves them to the top.

Hi Rik,

Everyone is correct: please remove the brackets! As long as the page numbers are on their own line with nothing else on that line and the first or last line of the page, they’ll be fine. They do not all need to be at the top or bottom of the book, or have a blank line above and below to “protect” them.

Best,

Madeleine

Hi Rick,

Yes, we're required to remove things like brackets surrounding page numbers.

*The book I am scanning has its page numbers in brackets.*

*Like this:*

*[24]*

*I am moving the page number to the proper position at top of each page with a blank line above and below it.*

*Must I also remove the brackets, or should I leave them?*

*Thanks.*
