People tend to sell expensive programs such as k1000 on sites such as ebay or on several sites expressly meant for selling used adaptive tech. I can share names of such sites if folks want them. People also advertise equipment and software for sale in The Braille Monitor, The Braille Forum and Matilda Ziegler Magazine. This kind of adaptive software tends to be expensive enough for folks to sell it though perhaps some give it away. I have personally never heard of anyone giving away k1000 but perhaps others have.

Sorry but I was referring to someone dying or no longer needing/wanting to use the program for any number of reasons including illness. That's why I used the work ghoulish but I find it no more so than donating ones corneas or heart when no longer needed.

What would make k1000 "no longer needed" short of its owner dying? I am serious. I do not understand the question I guess.
If somebody wants to sell a licensed copy of k1000, the license number can be transferred to a new owner just like when somebody sells anything else with a license number attached to it.

thanks for the information. Someday I may get to use it. Appropos of which, and this may sound ghoulish but it is not really meant as such, what happens to programs like K-1000 when they are no longer needed. Can they be donated to people who do need them ? Can they be willed to organizations like Bookshare for the use of needy members? Since they are purchased outright (I assume) they should be the property of the owner to do with as he chooses short of illegally copying them or such. I vaguely remember something about their being used on other computers in a network so I am assuming they can be moved or reinstalled. Anyone know?

Hello,

I can also tell you that there will be a relatively inexpensive,
comprehensive Kurzweil 1000 tutorial available soon for those interested in
learning the product.

An extensive tutorial for using k1000 exists. It is on the site under the
download section. Hitting enter on the mp3 link plays the sound of the
tutorial automatically. The tutorial can also be downloaded in .txt for
for those wanting that format.

We may want to put this in the tips section.
