I wrote Kurzweil while I was still young and naive last year and asked about
a used K1000 and you would have thought I had suggested rape in the middle
of main street. It would have to be person to person or by some form that
would not violate their license agreement. Does that preclude resale ?

People can become sick, move away, decide that scanning stuff isn't right for them, enjoy using Fine Reader better instead of K 1000 for example.
There is a mass market in used CCTVs and I have seen notetakers, and screen
reading software for sale in the backs of Braille Forum and Braille Monitor.

I recieved a brailler from a elderly neighbor's sister, who could no longer
use it. I received several writing guides from my previous place of
employment because they didn't know what they were, but i did.
So... it happens.
I do know one individual who sold his copy of Kesy on Ebay, as he didn't want it anymore. Why I don't know but he did.

Amy if I donated my copy of k1000 I would give up my license. I would then
have to buy a new copy to get a license. I simply cannot think of a reason
why anyone would donate a copy of a licensed program to someone unless that
person died and no longer needed a scanning software package. If, for
instance, the person wanted to change from Open Book to K1000, Kurzweil has
a trade in policy but the person has to give kurzweil their OB license
number. Hope this makes the process clearer.

It was just a question/idea. When I broke up my libray I gave away almost 30 boxes of books to individuals and to some schools and to people friends told me about. I still occasionally give away books I still have left but don't need or know I won't use again. And I exchange some for credit at a used & new bookstore so that I can get used books at $0.20 on the dollar and new ones at a significantly reduced price.

Bookshare is separate from Kurzweil or Freedom Scientific and does not give or sell software made by either company to individuals and does not take donations of anything other than money and books to the best of my knowledge. For instance, I do not think bookshare takes donations of computers, scanners or any kind of software. Somebody can correct me if I am wrong here.
