Cindy, Just because UCLA is your ISP, that does not mean that it will automatically allow you access to their restricted holdings and catelogs. As was suggested in a previous message, you have to setup what is known as a "proxy" service on your computer, which allows your computer to act as if it's located on the UCLA campus. The proxy service assigns an IP address to your computer that is in a particular range that is permitted to view restricted information. Jake, the UCLA ISP system probably does not assign the same range of IP addresses that are used for the UCLA lan system. The other possibility is that the IP addresses are not listed in the filter, which controls access to restricted info. I found the access to World Cat at the UCLA library online. Unfortunately, I got this message --instantaneously, I might add: The IP address of your workstation is not currently recognized by the FirstSearch Service. Please contact your library staff for help in resolving this problem. My husband is going to see if he can get access to it from home. He says there are some sites he can only access from his on-campus computer. If he can get access for me from home, I can help you search obscure and hard to find items for our fellow booksharians. What fun! Cindy __________________________________ Discover Yahoo! Have fun online with music videos, cool games, IM and more. Check it out! http://discover.yahoo.com/online.html
