I didn't just walk off the edge of a swimming pool, I ran, but I can't blame it on some distracted sighted guide. I was in about third grade, and at a slumber party with about six other girls. It wasn't going well for me, I don't know why, but I felt excluded, so decided to go off and play alone somewhere. It was a bright, sunny afternoon, which for me was the worst sort of day; I could see best on overcast days, and so all I could see was a vast stretch of ground, so I started to run... and suddenly I was in some very cold water, fully dressed, in early March! LOL It's funny now, but I felt so embarrassed at the time. I think the kids, and the girl's mother didn't quite understand that I had a vision problem, and I was too embarrassed and probably didn't have the words anyway to explain it. Same sort of thing happened once when I was at a neighbor's house and walked into a closet which had no floor, and I fell down to the first level of the house! (the house was still being built... very odd, now that I'm thinking of it.) The kids' mother just said "Honey, I'd rather you guys didn't play down here." and sent me on my way. No one knew I'd fallen. I went home with my concealed scratches, without telling anyone, and got scolded for being over there in the first place!
