Hi Valerie,

It's fine and preferable that you add Chapter 1 or One whichever it
was, (sorry, didn't check my braille display, only listened), if the book
obviously had that in it.

As to the table of contents that you want to add? I don't think
that would be all right. We're not supposed to change the text content of
books except to add proofreaders notes in brackets[] to tell the reader that
something is a caption, or to describe a table, chart, or picture.

Sorry about that. I hate to be the bringer of unfun news.

Mayrie

a Seeing-Eye Dog

Dear Shelley or others;

It appears, and having scanned over the chapter headings, that there
probably was originally a designation of chapters above the chapter title. I
am taking that I have the liberty of saying Chapter One, Chapter Two, etc.
above each chapter title since it is my impression that they were there from
some partial words appropriately above some chapter titles? Also, I know we
are not supposed to add anything, but I would feel a whole lot better if I
was allowed to construct a table of contents. Is there any latitude allowing
me to do that? I'm making one for myself, anyway, just to help navigate. I
really appreciate everyone's help!

Take care!

Valerie
