Hi Lori!Sometimes when I either don't have a large block of time or just don't feel like scanning a whole book at one sitting, I determine how many pages I want to scan: 10, 20, 50, whatever, and I put a bookmark in the book where I want to stop scanning so I will know where to continue the scanning next time. If I scan until I'm tired of it, I have noticed that I either duplicate or skip pages.

And I commend you as I don't know that I could ever scan an entire book, however, the idea has become more enticing of late as it might give me a little more diversity in the repetition of things. Thanks to all, Lori----- Original Message ----- From: <mailto:greensleeves1@xxxxxxxxx>Christina To: <mailto:bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, November 02, 2009 11:58 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Wrote just now to Pavi There are good points to both approaches. That's how I got into scanning, actually. I kept finding books I wanted to put on the wishlist. I decided the best way to get them on Bookshare was to do them myself so, I did. *Smile* I was luckily in a position financially at the time to buy a scanner and OCR and I had the time to learn it. It's not for everyone though. Any contributions, be they time or book donations, are always appreciated.Christina----- Original Message ----- From: <mailto:kimfri11@xxxxxxxxxxx>Kim Friedman To: <mailto:bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, November 02, 2009 11:10 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Wrote just now to PaviHi, Christina, I'm glad you're pleased. Roger has said in his way that if I really wanted to make Bookshare happy, I'd buy stuff on the wish list. Mind you, I certainly don't disagree with what he has to say, but I'd also state that what is so wonderful about Bookshare are those delightful books we feel like acquiring and sharing with others. I think what I can do is if there are synopses proposed for books on the wish list, at least I'd know what I'm getting for Bookshare. Understand, me, I'm not at all put out by that remark, for I know it was meant to be helpful. Thanks for sending these books to Bookshare. For future reference, if it's an Urban fantasy like the Katie Macalister book, I'll probably be willing to scan it. *Smile*Christina----- Original Message ----- From: <mailto:mirxtech@xxxxxxxxx>Jamie Yates, CPhT To: <mailto:bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, November 02, 2009 12:11 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Wrote just now to PaviIf they are fruity tootsie rolls they wouldn't last long here!
