It does indeed help! This particular book is a very clean scan, and I don't
think I'll have any trouble doing the search and replace deal with it at
all.

I do the global search and replace.
There are a couple of ways you can do this while still keeping the title and

author's name from getting deleted from the title page.
You can take out the extra material at the beginning and end of the book and

put them in a separate file so all you're left with is the story itself.
Then, do a global search and replace.
Or, do the search and replace but copy the entire line the heading is on,
excluding any page numbers. That way, if the title is in the text of the
story, it isn't likely to get replaced because it isn't surrounded by extra
spaces, hard returns, or paragraph markers.

The thing to keep in mind for headers is that, sometimes, they're jumbled so

one or two search and replaces might not get rid of them all. It depends on

how good the scan is.
Hope This Helps,
Christina

Oops, that was suppoosed to be..Would they still be headers if they're at
the bottom of the page?

Anyway, there are a number of ways to remove headers. If you're going to
read through the book, you can just take them out as you read along. Or,
even if you are going to read through it, it can be faster to check each
page for it's header and remove it individually. You can also use a global
search and replace to replace the header with nothing. The potential problem

with this is that if the header is a title, it may appear in the text of the

book, and a search and replace will remove all instances of it, including in

the text of the book. I've seen cases where this could happen. You can still

use a search and replace, but you just have to check each instance to make
sure it's not part of the text before deleting it.

I actually meant headers, not footers, as per my last message! The
question is still, do you as validaters leave them in, or take them out..?
And, if you take them out, what is a god way to do that?

  Thanks,
  Caitlyn
