HI Julie, I agree with your reasons totally. I know it isn't real new technology considering AOL had it in December of 1990 when I first got on that system. I often do wonder if books I have an interest in are desired since some of my reading is a little off the best sellers list. :) Katie Hill Reconnection and Reiki energy healing Get your personal numerology reading Kaitlyn@xxxxxxxxxxxxx AIM: SStarAngel@xxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Julie Morales Sent: Sunday, January 08, 2006 12:26 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Number of books Hi, Katie. I know what you mean. I've often wondered how many people download the books I scan. It's nothing terribly important...just my curiosity getting the better of me, I guess, but I think some download statistics would be nice. It would, if nothing else, give you an idea of how popular a book is and for those of us who submit and who frequently submit books of a given type, it would give us an idea of how many people are really interested in that kind of thing. Take care. Julie Morales Life is a gift from God. It would be nice to have a download counter in blue of the write a review. I don't think I have seen a review written for a book yet. That not only means more volunteers, but more subscribing members. More goals will come down as the year progresses, but BookShare I think is finding that we need more folks willing to volunteer so that we can keep our numbers increasing at a steady pace, but the quality improving as well. There is a fine line between numbers and quality. If a book is in overall great shape, the thought is to not bother attempting to improve it that last little bit, but to improve a book that drastically needs it. This will keep the numbers going up at a small sacrifice of quality. Schools in particular want to see that we can provide high quality books. Having BookShare introduced to students is probably a good thing as they will then be familiar with it for the rest of their lives. The catch of course is to make a good impression. Okay, I'm done with this long post *grin* just thought I'd throw some thoughts out there.
