Hi Lea, and welcome back.
the validation process is as in-depth as you want to make it. You definitely
did the right thing to reject a book with whole chapters mangled. With books
with one word missing at the end of each page I would try to fill in the
missing word, but if there's a word missing on every line, I would reject.
With books, some people just check to see that the minimum required
info--copyright etc--is present, while others read through the whole book and
correct all the errors they find. It's really up to you how much or how little
you want to do.
