Hi all,

Finally, I got the info on how to turn off Automatic bullets and numbers. Here is what I found on Google. I have placed info in parentheses for screen reader folks.

Turn on or off automatic bullets or numbering
vBy default, if you type an asterisk or a number 1., Word recognizes that you are trying to start a bulleted or numbered list. You can turn off the automatic list recognition feature. NOTE If you turn the feature off and create your list manually, you can't select and change the list all at once. For example, you can't select the list and change the color of all of the numbers at one time. 1. Click the Microsoft Office Button , (do an alt-f.) and then click Word Options. (arrow up to Word Options and press enter).
2. Click Proofing. Use your arrow keys to get to proofing.)
3. Click AutoCorrect Options, (press spacebar on that button.) and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab. (Once in the auto correct dialog, use ctrl-tab to get to Autoformat As You Type.) 4. Under Apply as you type, select or clear the Automatic bulleted lists check box or the Automatic numbered lists check box. (Tab along till you get to the checkboxes for automatic bullets and numbers and uncheck them with the spacebar.)

Now, if you *want* to make a bulleted list, or a numbered list, you can do this in two ways.

1. If you want to start the list before typing, use aht-hu for unnumbered list and alt-hn for numbered list. Once you have entered the command, the number or bullet will be placed before every line after you hit the enter key. To stop this behavior, hit enter twice.

You can also select your list, do the commands listed above and voila, you've got your list.

Sorry it took me so long to get the info, but there it is. this is for Word 2007. I assume that 2010 would be similar.
