The Wayne County CBC was held on 3 Jan. We had 6 participants in 4 parties. Total species 77 Total individuals 6320 Highlights of the count were: Bald Eagle 4 Merlin 1 Herring Gull (first for count) Bonaparte's Gull 372 Wilson's Snipe only 1 (most ponds frozen) Eurasian Collared-Dove 13 Horned Lark 5 Red-breasted Nuthatch 3 Hermit Thrush 4 Brown thrasher 1 American Pipit 2 Chipping Sparrow 2 Rusty Blackbird 90 Purple Finch 5Misses included Sharp-shinned Hawk, Eastern Phoebe, Brown Creeper, Winter Wren, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Fox Sparrow and Red-winged Blackbird.
