For what it's worth, I live in Utah and we just had what will likely be our 4th-ever confirmed state record of a Dickcissel about a month ago. I was fortunate to see and photograph it. It sang like crazy for about a week in a large field of Poison Hemlock. He was clearly trying to establish a territory. I felt kind of bad knowing he was singing in the wrong neighborhood. I guess he figured that out after about a week and moved on. This was a life bird for me. A couple of weeks later I visited Lexington, Kentucky for a reunion and had the great fortune of spending a morning in Madison Country with Andy Newman. He helped me pick up 22 life birds that morning. I was able to get great photos of a Dickcissel there and I'm sure that guy had a lot more success with breeding than our Utah visitor.
