I guess unusual could be interpreted many ways.  I’ve had a Great-horned Owl 
eating a possum in my yard but no picture.  I tried but he always flew before I 
could get to a point where I could see him.  I’ve had several birds that I’ve 
only seen once in my yard, but some of them are quite common otherwise; e.g. 
Rock Pigeon, Brown Thrasher.  I’ve had both eagles enough that I no longer 
consider them unusual.

 

Here’s my contribution to this project.  This bird hung around a couple of days 
in August, 2009.
